No. 25 Target Outfits and Accessories

No. 231 Champion Target Outfit (1936 - 43)

This is not a variation of the gun itself, but rather a variation in the way it was sold.  In the 1930s, Daisy began to market guns as part of “target outfits.”  This is a very early example.

Target outfit included the Daisy No. 25 pump gun, No. 77B Bell Target, two tubes of shot, and three Handipads of targets.  It was packed in a colorful carton.

No. 325 2-Way Target Outfit with Convertible Pump Gun (1950 - 52)

Daisy introduced a special No. 25 target set in 1950.  They called it the No. 325 2-Way Target Outfit with Convertible Pump Gun.  It was a long name for a great outfit.  It came in a large box and included the No. 25 pump gun with a No. 300 2X scope.  As the name suggests, it also included a cork ball barrel so that the shooter could convert back and forth between a BB gun and a cork gun.  Additionally, the outfit contained a No. 77B Bell Target with a supply of target cards, five corrugated stand-up cork ball targets, along with a supply of both BB shot and cork balls.  There was also a “Scope Dope” shooting instruction manual.  It was first offered in 1950 and continued through 1952.  The last version had the plastic stock and pump handle.  There were nearly 90,000 of these outfits sold.  How many do you suppose remain today?

Interestingly, although Daisy apparently did very little previous retail advertising of a No. 25 cork gun, they had in fact been making cork guns since at least 1931, as this ad shows.  We suspect Daisy No. 25 cork guns were made even earlier than this.

No. 1025 Air Rifleman Outfit (1957 – 1958)

In December 1956, Daisy marketed the No. 1025 Air Rifleman Outfit to dealers.  This kit included the new silk-screened No. 25 pump gun, which had bronze painted metal parts.

It included the No. 306 Rifle Rack and Wooden Storage Shelf, which could stand on its own or hang on a wall.   It also had the No. 304 BB Gun Cleaning Kit, which included brush rod, cleaning rod, gun oil, patches, touch up paint and brushes, and wax-impregnated polish cloth.

Additionally, the No. 1025 Outfit included five BB Packs of shot in a small ammunition box, a take-down/assembly “DAISY” screwdriver, and a target pad.  All of this came in an attractive large-size box for only $12.95.

It important to note that the No. 306 Rifle Rack and Wooden Storage Shelf could be purchased separately and used to display any No. 25 pump gun.  These were usually painted the standard black color.  However, all Daisy’s informational sheets and ads clearly specify that the No. 1025 set came with a bronze colored gun.  Is a black colored gun in a No. 1025 set wrong?  Anything was possible in the production process at Daisy.  You will have to be the judge.
